Roy Yamaguchi Coming to Saint Martin’s University

Article from Saint Martin’s University :

Saint Martin’s University will feature Award-winning Chef Roy Yamaguchi at the 2018 Saint Martin’s Gala. The event will be themed of Hawaii and Pacific Islands.

The Gala, which is to be held on Saturday, Nov. 3, in the Marcus Pavilion on Saint Martin’s main campus in Lacey, is the University’s major fundraising event for student scholarships. Last year’s Gala raised $1.2 million for scholarships.

Throughout the past several years, the formal affair has grown to be the main culinary event in the South Sound area, a five-course gourmet dinner and cooking demonstrations by celebrity chefs. There will also be a live auction!

The well known award- winning chef, Roy Yamaguchi is also a media personality and restaurateur who takes inspiration from his childhood of living on an American military base in Japan, his training in French cuisine, and combines it with his father’s Hawaiian roots to create a personal style of Hawaii-inspired cuisine. Roy’s Beach House, Roy’s Restaurants, Eating House 1849 and Humble Market Kitchen are some of the chef’s endeavors. The first televised cooking series to be shot solely on location in Hawaiian farms was a PBS series called “Hawaii Cooks with Roy Yamaguchi”.
