Coffee With a Story

If you’ve been in this area for any length of time, you’ve probably at least heart of Dutch Bros Coffee. The drive-through (and now walk-in location in Tumwater) stands are almost always packed with a line of cars. They have something for everyone, from Unicorn Blood to Cold Brew. These little coffee shacks have more than just good music, great service and delicious beverages. They’ve got heart.

Brothers Dane and Travis Boersma started Dutch Bros Coffee in 1992. At the beginning, the brothers started experimenting with coffee in their barn with just a double-headed espresso machine, some beans, and some music. Shortly after, they started sharing their creation.

Today, there are over 290 locations nationwide. They continue to grow- and give. Over $2 million a year has been given away to worthy causes in local communities and non-profits like the Muscular Dystrophy Association, in honor of Dane, who passed away in 2009 due to Lou Gehrig’s Disease.

So the next time you need a caffeine boost, think about drinking one for Dane at Dutch Bros Coffee!
