What Uncle Sam Has to Say About Children’s School Lunch.

We probably all agree that school lunches are extremely important for the health and well-being of children.  It is important for their growth, their ability to learn and their overall health.  Children are particularly vulnerable to bad food, because their bodies are developing and preparing for an adult body, which requires a lot of vital nutrients for building a solid foundation. Well, the United States Congress weighs in on children’s school lunches every few years through the Farm Bill, … [Read more...]

Get “Fed Up” and Pay Attention to What You Are Eating

Another world-changing documentary film was released on Friday, May 9th.  Fed Up is a movie that opens your eyes to what you have been told for decades about why Americans are fat (“It’s your fault.  You eat too much and sit on your duff all day.”) and what should be done about it (“Eat less and exercise more.”).  The problem with the message is they make it too simple, and they don’t talk about the content and quality of the calories.  The film discloses the politics behind food—Big Food is Big … [Read more...]

Empower Yourself and Know Your Food—VOTE!

Washington State:  On November 5th, your ballots are due.  You are being asked to vote on I-522.  This initiative says that genetically modified foods must be labeled and says there will be penalties for the absence of labeling this food.  This is really important, because you are voting on your right to know how your food has been created.  We all have this fairytale view of how our food is grown—the old-fashioned way, with a farming family growing beautiful fruits and vegetables without … [Read more...]
